Professor Jim Forbes, Emeritus Professor (Marketing and Behavioural Science Division) at the Sauder School of Business, passed away on January 28, 2016.  He was struck by an aggressive form of lymphoma.  Despite a strong spirit and willingness to fight, his body would not cooperate.  He slipped away peacefully, surrounded by family.

He researched and wrote about Canadian agriculture and food policy; served as expert witness for the Bureau of Competition Policy, Consumer and Corporate Affairs Canada; served at Sauder on the curriculum and teaching development committees and as Chair of the Marketing Division; and at UBC serving on various committees including the University Bookstore Committee, University Food Services Advisory Committee, University Athletic Committee, Point Grey Commerce Faculty Association, Food and Beverage Committee of the UBC Faculty Club, and on the Faculty Club Board of Directors. Jim will be missed by family and friends, UBC faculty, staff and students past and present.

A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at the University Golf Club on February 19 from 1:00-4:00p.m.  Any email can be sent to CelebratingJimForbes@gmail.com.  In lieu of phone calls or flowers, please consider a donation to PBS, Knowledge Network, or the BC Cancer Agency.
