NOI Deadline: February 10th 2019

The Entrepreneurship Area (NS Raghavan Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning) at IIMB in partnership with Administrative Science Quarterly (ASQ), the Organization and Management Theory Division of the Academy of Management (OMT), the W. Maurice Young Centre for Entrepreneurship & Venture Capital Research (MYC) at the University of British Columbia, and the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business will hold a 2-day Paper Development & Writing Workshop on April 27th and 28th 2019 in Bangalore, India. ASQ is the leading journal in organizational theory and management, and OMT is the main international association for scholars with an interest in organizational theory. This workshop, the first of its kind in India, is intended to deepen the intellectual exchange between scholars of organization theory in South Asia and their peers across the world.

This developmental workshop offers the opportunity for Ph.D. students, postdocs and faculty members to develop high quality research papers in the organizational theory domain. The workshop will be led by members of the ASQ editorial board and OMT executive committee including:

  • Christina L. Ahmadjian (ASQ Associate Editor)
  • Glen Dowell (ASQ Editorial Board, Strategic Organization Co-Editor and Senior Editor Org. Science)
  • Henrich Greve (ASQ Editor-in-Chief and former OMT Division Chair)
  • Rajiv Kozhikode (ASQ Editorial Board)
  • Dalhia Mani (OMT Representative-at-Large)
  • Davide Ravasi (OMT Division Chair and former Journal of Management Studies Associate Editor)
  • Marc-David L. Seidel (ASQ Associate Editor, former OMT Division Chair and MYC Director)

The workshop emphasizes developing and writing strong theory. To this end, the workshop aims to provide focused and specific feedback on selected papers from peers and mentors in a small group and one-on-one setting. There are also open sessions where the focus is on learning more about the publication process and how to refine manuscripts to increase the chances of successfully publishing.

There is no fee for attending the workshop although participants will be responsible for their own travel and accommodation. A limited number of stipends are available for application to partially offset travel expenses for out of town Ph.D. students with working papers.

To apply for this two-day workshop:

Those who wish to attend only the Open Sessions on 27th April should pre-register by emailing nisha.devi@iimb.ac.in. Please provide your name, designation, and affiliation. There is limited on-campus accommodation available on a first-come first-serve basis, so please indicate in your email whether you would like to book these.
